Refugee Week volunteers – kayakers
Do you kayak? On June 24 the Multicultural Council of Tasmania will hold an event for Refugee Week and need the assistance of kayakers!
In it’s second year, our event Lanterns for Peace will involve floating large lanterns on the water at Cornelian Bay foreshore at dusk. The lanterns will be decorated by the community with messages of peace and welcome to refugees.
All lanterns will be created under the supervision of a professional maker – and will be made from bamboo and light paper. We need the assistance of 6 – 10 kayakers, who will work in pairs to help float these relatively light lanterns.
Kayakers would need to be onsite from approximately 4.30 pm till 6.30 on 24 June. If interested please get in touch with Lucie Cutting on 6285 9907 or email email@example.com
Refugee Week volunteers – general assistance
The Multicultural Council is looking for volunteers to assist with two community workshops in the lead up to Refugee Week. Volunteers would be required to assist a professional lantern maker with workshops in lantern making.
Activities would involve glueing, decorating, and putting together lanterns on Sunday 28th May and Sunday 4th June. Volunteers will be required to assist all day, and at our office on Melville St in Hobart.
If interested please contact Lucie Cutting on 6285 9907 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
