Additional Support is Welcome!
The Multicultural Council of Tasmania is thrilled to hear about the increase in core operational funding of $20,000 per year. This will mean that the Council has core operational funding of $110,000 and make it much easier for us to undertake our work around the state.
The Council turns 40 years old in 2018 and we now have 80 member organisations and a new home at the Multicultural Hub in Moonah. Our members are community groups – they are based around ethnic, cultural, language and faith based interests and affiliations. Our members undertake thousands of hours of voluntary work each week to help people settle in Tasmania and to keep their cultural traditions and celebrations thriving.
We very much welcome the support that the Hodgman Government has shown the Multicultural Council in the last few years. They have demonstrated a great willingness to listen and be responsive to the ideas and issues that members of the community raise with them.
