Akhila Shaha – Board Member

My name is Akhila, and I am a dedicated and multifaceted social worker in the making. I have completed a Diploma of Community Services at TAFE and am now beginning my Bachelor of Social Work at UTAS. During my placements with MRC and HWS, I gained valuable experience working closely with diverse communities and deepening my understanding of practical, person-centred support.

Alongside my studies, I currently serve as the Vice President of the Hobart Bangladesh Community, a role that allows me to actively engage with community members and support cultural connection. Before moving into social work, I spent 20 years in art and culture as a designer in Bangladesh, which strengthened my creativity, communication skills, and passion for working with people.

I am motivated to contribute meaningfully to the Multicultural Council and believe my lived experience, commitment, and community focus will allow me to add genuine value.
