Archana Brammall – Board Member

Archana Brammall is a prominent entrepreneur and community advocate. As the owner and managing director of The Buna Collective, she oversees a growing consortium of hospitality venues in the State.

A recognised member of the Tasmanian business community, Archana grew up in both Ethiopia and India before settling in Tasmania.  In addition to her leadership skills and dedication to sustainable business growth, Archana advocates for strong governance and the promotion of diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace. This is reflected in her own workplaces where she employs people from 13 nationalities speaking 15 languages.

Archana was born in the small Ethiopian town of Ambo to an Indian father and Ethiopian Mother. A rich childhood in Ethiopia and later in India shaped and provided her with her drive, her skills in communication and her perseverance.  It taught her how to overcome adversity and to look at the world as greater than her immediate surrounds.

Settling in Tasmania 24 years ago, Archana has witnessed significant shifts in the State’s cultural diversity. Initially standing out due to her Indian and Ethiopian heritage, she experienced both acceptance and discrimination. Today, Tasmania is home to a broader range of ethnicities, and yet still as a Black female business leader in Tasmania, Archana very much remains a minority figure.

Archana’s influence extends beyond business. Fluent in three languages, she bridges three continents—Africa, Asia, and Australia—offering a global perspective. She holds degrees in Economics and English Literature, alongside diplomas in Project Management and Tourism Operations. Archana is a graduate of the Tasmanian Leaders Program and serves as a Board Director for Football Tasmania. Her past roles include Vice Chair of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce and board positions with Care for Africa and the Migrant Resource Centre. Archana’s leadership and advocacy make her a pivotal figure in promoting diversity and equality across Tasmania.
