The MCOT Community Kitchen has recently been redesigned and refurbished to provide a space where community members can showcase their cooking skills, grow their commercial ventures, and connect with community, using our available equipment and facilities.
The MCOT Community Kitchen is a fully approved commercial kitchen. It is set up to produce a diversity of meals with crockery and cutlery for 60 people.
Please note: The Kitchen and Hub are two separate entities. You may book the Kitchen only, the Hub only, or both together. Different fees apply to each types of booking.
A trial period of management, booking and use, has been set to ensure a smooth and correct use of the kitchen, appliances and resources is in place. We appreciate feedback from users and the community on how this can be done better. Trial period is from November 2024 to March 2025. During this period changes to hire conditions may occur.
Induction: Every person new to the kitchen has to go through an rigorous handover (45 min) and keys hand over. Our office will contact you after making your booking to arrange a suitable time.
IMPORTANT
Is the food cooked at the MCOT Kitchen planned to be sold to the public? Are you getting a remuneration in exchange of providing food?
If your answer is YES, please contact Glenorchy City Council to (03) 6216 6800 and request to be transferred to the Health and Environment team to check on the best permit for your business, even if it is a once-off event. After you have obtained your permit, you can proceed with the booking directly with MCOT.
